The thing it said in my journal! That I can't sing worth my weight in gald! For your information, I sing well enough, and I don't need you or those stupid Malno-nos telling me otherwise!

[Thing in the journal? That is filed away for later query, but first:]

Has anyone else ever told you that you sing well?

[And here is where Norma rolls over, sits up in bed, and crosses her arms. She seems to have a sort of triumphant smirk on her face as well, when she speaks.]

As a matter of fact, someone has! He even said I could perform professionally if I wanted to! In front of a crowd of people! [So put that in your pipe and smoke it, blondie.]

[Fenimore is surprised for a moment, but this passes into suspicious soon after.]

Are you sure he wasn't just being nice? [Maybe it's someone with a crush on Norma.] Or sarcastic? ...Maybe a little drunk?

[Norma tenses throughout Fenimore's accusations, her shoulders raising and her eyebrows knitting together. before she can finish the word "drunk", Norma snatches up the pillow from her bed and flings it at the poor Ferines' face. Then stands up straight.

This will not end well.]

Jeez, shut your hole already! Did you come in here just to make fun of me or something, huh?! I sing just fine, and that kid was being entirely honest! I don't care what you or the Malno-nos, or anyone say! If you don't like it, then get out!

[Fenimore may have been getting some training in self-defence, but not enough to improve her reflexes to block that pillow, so it goes square to her face and drops to her feet.

Okay, now she's mad.]

...Fine, if you want to pretend you don't sound like a dying animal, go ahead! But I came here to tell you that I can hear you clear across the house, so you can either be quieter or you can shut up!

[Clear across the house might be an exaggeration. She wasn't that far from Norma's room when she heard it and didn't bother to check if it is audible that far. But she doesn't really care for accuracy.]

[That makes two. Norma is staring down Fenimore in a way that looks positively vicious. There was once a time, far back, when Norma actually wanted to hit the young Ferines with all of her might. She had thought such a feeling was long since discarded and forgotten, yet here it was again - just as ugly as it was back then.]

Great, message received! Now get out of my room before I deck you! [She even curls her fingers into fists threateningly at her sides.] I'm not leaving and I'm not shutting up for you or anyone else!

[She opens her mouth as though intending to continue arguing, but she closes it after a moment. It's not worth it. Instead, she slams the door to Norma's room as she leaves. She stays in the hallway for a while, stewing in her anger.

Norma had better turn it down, or else...or else...!

Actually, probably the best punishment she could come up with would be leaving her alone and hoping that Walter overhears it. Having to deal with an angry Walter is probably punishment enough.

[Norma practically bristles when Fenimore slams her door. In her face! She reaches for the knob, grabbing it tightly, and is ready to fling it open and pounce upon the young Ferines girl, but...she just grinds her teeth together and lets go of the knob instead. She stomps to her bed, flops onto it, anf grabs one pillow to scream into and bite at.

What was with FenFen?! There's no way she could sing that bad! Sure, she's not the best around, but she wasn't the worst, either! And that...that kid really sounded genuine when he said she sounded good. What Fenimore said about that was just plain insulting! Huffpuff. Norma whirls around to glare angrily at her door, still hugging her pillow tightly, and is tempted to sing at her loudest volume yet, just to spite her.

Fortunately, though, Norma doesn't. If only because she knows Sophie's in the house and needs her naps every so often. Norma doesn't care about any of the others, except for perhaps Grune. They can complain all they want, but she won't quiet up for any one of those blond-haired, bimbos!]

[Yay for Sophie accidentally keeping peace in the household. With any luck, the peace will stay once they discover, post-event, that this was due to Malnosso shenanigans.

But for now, Fenimore is just going to go off and be grumpy all day.]
